I gotta tell ya I’m really enjoying my current program, which is a bit of a throwback to my old training strategy, as previously mentioned.
I trained chest on Friday night with one of the boys from work and we both pulled up really nicely sore yesterday and today. I’m going to hit chest again tomorrow (Monday) and really try to shock it a bit with all this heavy lifting. From there i’ll be back into my “chest on monday, back on tuesday, etc” routine that I like.
I’ve changed things slightly and am putting in some slightly heavier endurance sets of 16-18 reps, as well as the 25 rep pump sets on other exercises. Stumbled onto an interesting article on the internet today as well, about different tricep exercises and techniques to focus on a particular head of the triceps muscle. I’ll be thinking about this some more and incorporating it into my arms routine. I seem to be a little bit fortunate with very responsive triceps muscles, so I want to make them really outstanding if I can.
Being a new year and all I’m really starting to think a long way ahead and I plan to utilise what I’ve learned in my Fitness studies regarding periodisation. So, i’ll be continuing to mix things enough, with a strength period, a growth period, and so on.
Once i go back to night shift I think i will go back over all the books and really try to re-enforce my understanding of all this stuff. Will be doing my exams ASAP as well and trying to get as close to being finished and qualified soon.
Right now I need my beauty sleep though (after working all weekend) so that’s the end of this.
